About the Dialogue

The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Legacy Dialogue serves as a platform for leadership development for the African continent. The dialogue analyzes the impact of good policies on the growth of the continent. This includes civil society, transformation agents and government. To Promote the foundation for a global discourse and narrative that puts transformational leadership at the centre of global efforts to achieve the SDGs.

This year, the IBB Legacy Dialogue Series will continue its tradition by hosting a two-hour live tele-discourse on Africa Independent Television (AIT) with the theme; A NEW PARADIGM: A NEW GENERATION, AND NEW IDEAS. The purpose of the discourse is to foster meaningful conversations and constructive deliberations on matters that concern the future of our beloved nation.

The Live-broadcast is scheduled to take place on 17th of August, 2023, at 6pm, to commemorate the 82nd birthday celebration of His Excellency, President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, GCFR.

Her Excellency, Aisha Babangida is a powerful convener of successful collaborative processes in leadership, development, and Negotiations. She plays roles as a champion, shaper of issues, and a great unifier. She serves as the public face for the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Legacy Dialogue, the Mothers of the Nation Initiative, and female entrepreneurship development in Nigeria and Africa. Aisha serves as the conscience of the community she serves. She is the founder of Egwafin Micro Finance Bank, Women Enterprise Alliance as well as the Chairperson of the Better Life Program for the African Rural Woman. Aisha Babangida is a humanitarian leader with a demonstrated history of working within philanthropy and helping the underserved.

DISCUSSANTS

AHMED BUHARI

Ahmed Buhari is professional with a huge experience as a Government Liaison Consultant in the Oil and Gas sector. His role in the petroleum sector required that he interface with politicians, government, and the private sector on processes. Most of which involved corporate social responsibilities involving educational projects, provision of health facilities in rural Niger Delta areas, ensuring proper communication between organizations, donor agencies, relevant government agencies, and the general public.

In 2019, Ahmed became the youngest person to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This political exposure has given him access to government/political operations in Nigeria, and he has also helped in raising the consciousness of a lot of young Nigerians who have become more aware of their socio-political environment, especially on how to prioritize their requests towards national development, stability, and unity.

MARYAMU JIBRIL AMINU

In 2019, Ahmed became the youngest person to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This political exposure has given him access to government/political operations in Nigeria, and he has also helped in raising the consciousness of a lot of young Nigerians who have become more aware of their socio-political environment, especially on how to prioritize their requests towards national development, stability, and unity.

Maryamu is a product of Nigerian public elementary and secondary schools, and received a BSc. in International Relations and MSc. in International Politics from the University of Wales at Aberystwyth, in the U.K.

TOPE FASUA

Tope Fasua, FCA, PhD is an Economist, Chartered Accountant and Public Policy Scholar with over 30 years experience in banking, management consulting and research work. He is CEO, Global Analytics Consulting and President, Institute for Service Excellence and Good Governance. He was a Presidential Candidate in Nigeria during the 2019 elections

ANTHONY A. KILA

Anthony Kila is a Jean Monnet professor of Strategy and Development. He is the Institute Director General at CIAPS. He is also an international director of studies at the European Centre of Advanced and Professional Studies. He is a regular commentator on the BBC and a columnist with the national mirror; his articles and essays are also published in various other news outlets. As a policy analyst and advisor, he has worked with many organisations in European and Commonwealth countries.
