The Ibrahim and Maryam Babangida Presidential Library is committed to promoting education and nurturing future
leaders who will drive positive change in Nigeria. In line with this commitment, we are proud to introduce the GEN-B
Scholarship Initiative, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project aimed at sponsoring one hundred students, and 5 entrepreneurs across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

The primary objective of the GEN-B Scholarship Initiative is to provide financial support to talented and deserving students across Nigeria, enabling them to pursue higher education and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become future leaders in their respective fields.

selection criteria

Scholarship Programme Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Age Range: Applicants must be between 8 to 35 years old.
  1. Educational Status:
  • Students graduating from Primary 5 to Secondary School.
  • Current secondary school students.
  • University Students – Undergraduate & Postgraduate students.
  1. Academic Excellence:
  • Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic performance in their previous educational pursuits.
  • Evidence of academic excellence should be provided through academic transcripts or certificates.
  1. Financial Need:
    Preference will be given to candidates from low-income backgrounds who lack sufficient financial means to pursue higher education without external assistance.
  1. Entrepreneurial Criteria:
  • For entrepreneur applicants, emphasis will be placed on viability of their business ideas.
  • The potential of the business idea to contribute to economic development will also be considered.
  1. Leadership Qualities:
  • Candidates should exhibit leadership qualities, including but not limited to initiative, teamwork, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
  • Evidence of leadership roles in school, community, or other relevant areas should be provided, if applicable.
  1. Application Documentation:
  • Applicants must submit all required documentation, including academic transcripts or certificates, proof of financial need, business plans (for entrepreneurs), and letters of recommendation, etc.
  • Any additional materials supporting their eligibility, such as certificates of leadership training or community service, may also be included.
  1. Citizenship/Residency:
  • The scholarship is open to citizens or legal residents of Nigeria.
  • International students studying in Nigeria may also be eligible, subject to additional requirements.
  1. Application Deadline:
  • All applications must be submitted by the 25th of April, 2024.
  • Late applications will not be considered.
  1. Selection Process:
  • Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo interviews or other assessment methods.
  • Final decisions will be based on the overall merit of the applicants and their alignment with the goals of the scholarship programme.
  1. Terms and Conditions:
  • Recipients of the scholarship must comply with all terms and conditions outlined by the scholarship programme.
  • Failure to meet the requirements may result in the termination of the scholarship.
  1. Reapplication:
  • Previous applicants who were not selected may reapply in subsequent application cycles, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
  1. Confidentiality:
    All information provided by applicants will be treated confidentially and used solely for the purpose of evaluating scholarship applications.

sustainability clause

To sustain the continuity of the GEN-B Scholarship Initiative, recipients must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 90% for the previous semester or term. This requirement ensures that scholarship funds are allocated to individuals who are dedicated to academic excellence and are actively contributing to their educational pursuits.
